Savannah Wedding Video – that special moment
quick update – as if to underscore the following post… got this message from the GROOM – “Sean, that teaser video was nothing short of amazing! I almost teared up first time I watched it. My sister and Krista did tear up. I can’t say it enough, it is amazing! Thank you! We can’t wait to see the whole thing!”
update 4-5-13 - posted the full hi-lite video and received this from the bride – “It is absolutely AMAZING thank you so much!! We can’t express how much it means to us!!”
There’s an old saying that goes “a picture is worth 1000 words…”
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all about photography… heck, my best friend in the whole wide world (and Canada) is an amazing photographer… it’s just that when I happen to be in the right place at the right time to capture something like the exchange at the beginning of the teaser trailer for the wedding film I’m currently editing, I gotta smile and be glad about what I’m able to contribute to this special moment.
Let me try to illustrate… above is a screen capture from a 40 second teaser. It captures a moment in time. By itself, it’s not a great photo, but… it’s one of 24 photos taken each second of the discussion taking place.
Now, as the video above shows, when you string a couple of those images together, grab some good audio and be lucky enough to end up in the right place at the right time, something magical can happen.
A couple of days earlier, we got a crazy email inquiring about photography for a surprise wedding proposal. I mentioned video, and even though he decided not to do it, I did it anyway… from the comments on facebook, I’m pretty sure his fiance’ was happy I did.
In my mind, stills and video BOTH have their place. A great photograph can capture a moment in time. A great video can tell the story of that moment.
I know I might be a bit prejudiced, but I’m hopeful that video has begun to find it’s place on the landscape of a wedding celebration. I know I’m trying to do my best to stake out my claim for the Savannah wedding video market. Gimme a buzz if you’d like me to do the same for you.
